Synopsis

The textbook examines unit repair, large scale unit repair and flow repair methods; organization of the work of sections, workshops, and departments; the process of equipping locomotives. The types of depot buildings and principles of rational location of repair stations; layout of the traction territory of the depot were considered. The book outlines the methods of calculating the number of workers as well as engineers and technicians; the number of equipment and servicing positions and also material stock required; the area of workshops and depots in general.

The theoretical foundations for determining the influence of the repair and diagnostic system on the reliability of traction rolling stock are also proposed.

The textbook corresponds to the structure and content of the work curriculum in the discipline “Operation of Locomotives and Locomotive Economy” and is intended for higher educational institutions training specialists for railway transport.
